OK, before I started posting on them all the time, did you know that so many books were made into movies and that we had them all in the library? Here’s another one. Again, a true story that has now been made into the “feel good movie of the year!” And just in time for the holidays.

Check availability of The Blind Side in the Tunxis Library. Read it and then see it!

The Early Childhood Book Collection in the corner of the first floor is for library lovers of all ages but because little readers find their way there, we have added some safety features like outlet plugs, cord-free blinds on the windows, and extra signage.

On Veterans Day we honor those who have served our country and are serving it today all around the world.  We honor the sacrifices that they and their families make and have made for all of us.  We can get just a peek into what life is like for them day to day from The Sandbox miliblog, dispatches from service members deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families back home.  It’s an eye-opening experience to read about the atrocities and the banalities of life at war.

2009 has been a full year for book to movie adaptations.  One of the latest is the movie Invictus based on the 2008 book  Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Made A Nation.  It’s the inspiring story of Nelson Mandela’s gutsy attempt to unite his bitterly divided nation through sport.

Everybody’s talking about what a crazy week it has been.  When it gets like that it’s good to be reminded of some essential truths.

You want to see if we have the book Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.  You look it up in the library catalog and find out that it is located in STACKS with a call number of BF 637 .S38 G 533 2008. Yeah, and… Well, we’ve now added a link to each item in the library catalog that will show you on a map just where to find it.  Of course, you can always ask for help, but now it should be a little easier to find what you need on your own.  What do you think?
